Mónica De Anda
Mónica is a West Covina native and graduated from West Covina High School. She went on to Cal State Fullerton, where she received her bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and the Spanish for Hispanic Media professional certificate from CSUF's Latino Communications Institute.
Monica landed her first reporting job in 2019 in South Texas, spending 3 years in the Rio Grande Valley. As a bilingual journalist, she reported in both Spanish and English, covering historic floods, border issues, COVID-19's effect on underserved communities, and Hurricane Hanna. Mónica loves sports and often did sideline reporting, winning the Texas Association of Broadcasters award for "Best Sports Special" alongside the sports team in 2022.
Wanting to get closer to family, Monica then took a job as a reporter and anchor in Sacramento, California in May 2022. There she anchored the early morning newscast before hitting the streets, often covering breaking news, snowstorms, flooding and everything in between.
Monica is the proud daughter of Mexican parents who taught her the value of hard work. Family is everything to her, and her favorite job in the world is being a big sister to her brother and two sisters. During her free time, Monica enjoys dancing, spending time with family, and exploring all the bakeries around town...she'll never pass up a warm chocolate chip cookie.
Monica is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
